Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do in an emergency?

We run an emergency service for all of our patients and patients not registered with us. If you ring the practice before 10am we aim to get you in that day or the next day. On bank holidays and over the Christmas period, we offer a call out service.

How much will an emergency appointment cost?

For patient’s that are not registered with us we charge £65, this covers the cost to be seen, x-rays and any antibiotics you may need. Out of hours charges are as follows:
Non patients of Wycherley’s dental practice £135.00 + cost of treatment

Private patients of Wycherley’s dental practice £135.00 + cost of treatment

Practice plan patients of Wycherley’s dental practice £25.00 + cost of treatment

I have a missing tooth, what are my options?

When you have a gap in the mouth there are only 4 options, either dentures, bridges, implants or simply leave the gap.

Why are my gums bleeding when I brush?

We all have bacteria in our mouths and a build-up of these bacteria is known as plaque. Plaque contains bacteria that can damage tissues which support the teeth, causing inflammation of the gum, this is called GINGIVITIS. When teeth and gums are not brushed on a regular basis the inflamed gums can bleed spontaneously or when brushing. Untreated gum disease can go from gingivitis to PERIODONTITIS, which is advanced form of gum disease, which involves bone loss around the teeth. You may be prone to recurrent infections that require treatment with antibiotics.

How often should I visit the dentist?
Most of our patients have a check-up every 6 months. This way we can detect any dental problems, screen for oral cancers and give regular oral hygiene advice to insure your mouth is in the best condition.

Do you offer NHS?

We are a fully private practice and not offer an NHS service.
